Patient Monitoring

We monitor our patients closely to keep them as safe as possible during procedures that require general anesthesia. A member of our technical team will continually assess your pet’s heart rate and rhythm using an EKG, respiratory rate, blood pressure, pulse oxygen, and other vital signs to help prevent any anesthetic risk.

All of our patients under general anesthesia have an IV catheter place for us to administer fluids during the procedure to help with hydration, keep blood pressure up and keep vital organs working well.  The IV catheter also provides us immediate vein access  to administer medication in case of an anesthetic emergency.

Please feel free to ask us about our patient monitoring protocol or any concerns you might have about your pet’s procedure. We’d be happy to discuss these matters in more detail.
